If you’re new to the Adelaide Hills, want to meet some interesting people and learn more about the local environment, you might like to become a member of the Laratinga Wetland Warriors.

Mount Barker District Council manages the Laratinga wetlands, 12 hectares of natural wastewater treatment ponds, between Bald Hills Road and Springs Road.

The “warriors” help Council identify and catalogue native plants and wildlife and spot and manage unwanted vegetation to ensure the wetland continues as a healthy habitat for local birds such as the Maned Duck, Australian White Ibis, Baillon’s Crake, Sulphur-crested Cockatoo and New Holland Honeyeater.
